Submissions

To submit a manuscript for a Q‑Critique doesn’t require a lot of paperwork. Simply prepare the following:

Author Information (for contact purposes only; not given or sold to third parties): Name; Address; Telephone; E-mail. Please note how you learned about The Queue.
Manuscript — Hard Copy (1 copy). Please format your manuscript in Times New Roman (or similar) 12-point font with a 1-inch margin on all sides. Pages must be numbered and double-spaced. Please include your last name and manuscript title on each page. If you wish to have us print your manuscript, add 9 cents per page to your fee (this includes return mail envelope and postage).
Manuscript — Electronic Copy. Attach a Microsoft Word 97/2000/XP document to an email. Send it to editor@queuebooks.com with your name, address, telephone, manuscript title and date the hard copy was mailed. You may be asked to send a CD or USB flash drive of the manuscript if the emailed file cannot be read.
Q‑Critique Fee. Use Microsoft Tools/Word Count to determine total number of words in your manuscript. Calculate your fee as follows: $4.00 x (times) number of manuscript words / (divided by) 290 = $_________ . Example: $4.00 x 100,000 words / 290 = $1379.00. If you want us to print your manuscript, calculate your fee as follows: $4.09 x (times) number of manuscript pages / (divided by) 290 = $________. Example: $4.09 x 100,000 words / 290 = $1410.00. If you need help calculating your fee, email us at editor@queuebooks.com. Please note: regardless of manuscript length, there is a $350 minimum charge for a Q-Critique. Children’s picture books have a minimum charge of $250. Fees will be negotiated for special projects or content editing for publication.

Send these materials along with a self-addressed envelope and appropriate postage for return of your manuscript (please use US Postal Service rates based on weight when determining appropriate postage).

Turnaround: Q‑Critiques are returned to the author 4-6 weeks from the date received. Telephone consultations are arranged within 1 month thereafter.

The Q‑Critique Scholarship Fund was created for writers of merit who have a yearly household income of less than $20,000 (plus $2,000 for each dependent). Approximately 5% of the Q‑Critique submission fee is made available to the fund. This is a partial scholarship. The minimum fee of $350.00 will apply. Two referrals or two publishing credits or a combination are required as part of the application. Application guidelines are available by emailing editor@queuebooks.com.

We also welcome donations to the Q‑Critique Scholarship fund. Your contribution helps writers get the professional assistance their work needs. Please note, donations are not tax exempt at this time.
